If you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, chances are you’ve had a complicated relationship with Vitamin C. It’s the gold standard for brightening, evening skin tone, and boosting glow—but for reactive skin, it can be a little too much. Stinging, breakouts, and barrier irritation are often part of the deal. That’s where Brightenyl® comes in.
This next-generation ingredient offers all the skin-brightening benefits of Vitamin C—without the drama. And yes, it plays really well with sensitive, breakout-prone skin.

What is Brightenyl®?
Brightenyl® also known as Diglucosyl Gallic Acid (DGA) is a patented molecule designed to improve overall skin radiance and even out discolouration. What makes it unique is that it's a biomimetic active : instead of being applied in its final form, it activates on your skin through your skin's own microbiome.
Once applied, it transforms into a powerful antioxidant that helps target pigmentation, inflammation, and uneven skin tone—all without the irritation often associated with other actives.
How It Works
Unlike Vitamin C, which is notoriously unstable and oxidizes quickly when exposed to air and light, Brightenyl® is incredibly stable. It activates only once it interacts with your skin's natural flora (the microbiome), turning into Trihydroxybenzoic acid (THBA) , which has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and brightening effects.
Its key functions:
Reduces dark spots and hyperpigmentation
Soothes inflammation and redness
Brightens overall skin tone
Protects against UV-induced damage

Brightenyl® > Vit C
Brightenyl® was made for the skin types Vitamin C often leaves behind. Its non-acidic, microbiome-activated delivery system makes it far gentler on the skin, especially for those prone to irritation and breakouts.
More Stable Than Vitamin C
Vitamin C (especially L-ascorbic acid) is notoriously unstable—it oxidizes quickly when exposed to light or air, making it less effective over time.
Brightenyl is photostable and more resistant to oxidation , so it stays active longer and is more reliable in formulas.
Gentler with Sensitive Skin
Vitamin C can cause tingling, redness, or breakouts in people with reactive skin.
Brightenyl works through a skin microbiome-activated mechanism , meaning it's gentler and less likely to trigger irritation or purging , making it ideal for inflamed or acne-prone skin.
Anti-inflammatory & Redness Reducing
Brightnyl also has anti-inflammaotory properties that help reduce redness and rosacea like symptoms, something Vitamin C doesn't directly target.
