This month is also special because it’s Rachel’s birthday month! As her birthday approaches, we look forward to celebrating together and following her along her day at the beach. 

7:00 AM - A Full Circle Moment

Embracing the luxury of a slow morning has been transformative for me. Lately, I've been making an effort to wake up earlier—taking time to move my body, go for a walk, and soak up some sunlight. This peaceful start really sets the tone for the rest of my day.


Today, I visited Turtle Cove Beach, a place I hadn’t set foot on in 15 years. It’s just steps from my old high school, and back then, it was the spot for late-night gatherings and endless teenage memories.

But this morning, at 7 a.m., I returned with my best friend for a different purpose: to welcome the day with calm intention. It felt surreal, like coming full circle. Standing by the sea, I couldn’t help but feel a blend of nostalgia and growth—how much has changed, yet how familiar it all felt. We’ve traded the excitement of late-night parties for the quiet beauty of sunrise, and it feels just right.

7:30 AM - The Art of Noticing

The weather was perfect. Did you know that getting natural sunlight within the first hour of waking up is actually really beneficial for your health?


Morning sunlight exposure is essential for regulating circadian rhythms, which influence sleep, hormone balance, and mood. This is especially beneficial for people with conditions like PCOS, as it can help stabilise cortisol levels, reduce stress, and improve metabolic health. The natural light helps boost serotonin and vitamin D levels, enhancing mood, immune function, and bone health. 


Making time for this in my routine has helped set the body’s internal clock, and it can even help contribute to promoting better sleep quality. Just 10–30 minutes each morning can support hormonal balance, energy levels, and overall well-being, making it a simple yet impactful wellness practice. 

Returning to the beach I used to frequent, I felt a much-needed sense of reset. Running a business is incredibly fulfilling, especially because of the community we’ve built—the wonderful connections with our BEDA girls, both online and offline, helping so many with their self-care journey and improving their skin concerns. But with that fulfillment comes a lot of busyness, which is why these peaceful moments are so essential. They remind us to slow down and appreciate the small things.

I took a moment to really notice the subtle sounds around me: the waves lapping at the shore, the older men enjoying their morning swim, birds chirping in the distance. I placed my things on the sand and saw how our cult favourite BEDA hair claw just naturally blended in with the rocks and shells, as if it was part of the beach itself.


The simplicity and beauty of it all brought a quiet sense of peace and nostalgia. Looking around, I realised that this too is self-care. It’s not just found in a skincare product; it’s in these small, serene moments that invite us to slow down and take notice.

8:30 AM - Relax, Breathe, Taking It In

After soaking up the morning beach sun and vibes, my best friend Natalie and I headed to the sauna at a nearby club—a relaxing ritual that’s become a cherished part of my self-care routine. The warmth of the sauna perfectly complemented the cool beach breeze. This added step into my routine helps improve circulation and reducing inflammation.

9:00 AM - Skin Food Always

By 9 a.m., we were enjoying a nutritious breakfast with fresh ingredients that felt as beneficial for our skin as for our health. It was a solid start to the day and a reminder of how our priorities have shifted over the years. For me, self-care isn’t just a luxury—it’s essential, a way to recharge and focus.

After that, I squeezed in a quick workout, appreciating how good it felt to get moving and build some strength after soaking up some early sunlight at the beach. 


Leaving Turtle Cove, I felt a renewed appreciation for these quiet, intentional moments. Life moves fast, and it’s easy to get caught up in the chaos—but mornings like this remind me of the value of simplicity, friendship, and taking care of ourselves inside and out.


Taking the extra time to wake up early and savor those quiet moments allows for a mental clarity that’s hard to find in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. As I move through my morning routine—whether it’s enjoying breakfast, getting some sunlight, or fitting in a workout—I notice how this deliberate pace sharpens my focus, calms my mind and just like that, I'm ready to tackle the tasks of the day ahead.
