Rich in Antioxidants

Green tea is high in polyphenols, particularly catechins like epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). These antioxidants help combat oxidative stress which help reduce cell damage and lower the risk of chronic diseases.

Improves Brain Health

Green tea contains caffeine, which, although less than coffee, can enhance brain function by improving mood, reaction time, and memory. It also has L-theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation without drowsiness, creating a synergistic effect with caffeine to improve brain function.

Pro tip: for people who get really jittery and overstimultated when consuming coffee, matcha might be the choice of drink for you. People find matcha drinks to give them that needed energy boost without the anxiety and heart palpitations.

Reduces the Risk of Cardiovascular Diseases

Studies have shown that regular consumption of green tea is associated with a lower risk of heart disease and stroke. It helps improve blood vessel function, lower LDL cholesterol levels, and reduce blood pressure, all contributing to heart health.

Incorporating green tea into your daily routine can offer a myriad of health benefits. However, it's important to consume it as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle to maximize its positive effects.

Green tea extract is one of the most well researched natural ingredients. Rich in polyphenols, especially catechins like epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), these compounds have strong anti-inflammatory properties, which is what help reduce redness and inflammation associated with acne. Inflammation is a key component of acne, and reducing it can lead to fewer breakouts and less irritation.

The antioxidants in green tea extract help combat oxidative stress, which can damage skin cells and exacerbate acne. By neutralizing free radicals, green tea helps protect skin cells and reduce the overall occurrence of acne.

Studies have shown how great green tea extract is for its antibacterial effects, particularly against 'Propionibacterium acnes', the bacteria commonly associated with acne. Green tea extract can inhibit the growth of these bacteria, reducing the likelihood of acne infections and breakouts.

Excessive sebum production is a major factor in acne development. Studies have indicated that green tea extract can reduce sebum production. Some studies have also suggested that green tea extract can help regulate hormone levels. EGCG has been found to modulate the production of androgens and reduce their effects on sebaceous glands, thereby decreasing sebum production and the potential for clogged pores.

There are a lot of interesting hacks utilising green tea on the internet. Youtube videos with green tea bags for reducing puffiness and redness. All you have to do is boil, steep and let cool.

Although it sounds like a convenient fix, there are actually many wonderfully formulated skincare products that include green tea extracts to give the same effect, but in a much more effective and powerful way.
