Rachel's 3 Current Obsessions - Birthday Reflections From A Scorpio Baby

Hey friends & lovers,

It’s my birthday soon (November 10!), and as a true Scorpio, I like staying a little mysterious — but you guys are my safe space.

So, in the spirit of vulnerability (and maybe a off on the three things I’ve been quietly obsessed with lately. Consider this a peek into my current little universe — the things feeding my body, brain, and soul.

Obsession #1 - Gluten-free Era (unsexy, but effective)

Three weeks ago, I went gluten-free — reluctantly, I might add. After dealing with a few gut flare-ups this year (probably stress-induced... hello, BEDA), I decided to give it a real shot. And honestly? I hate to admit how effective it’s been.

It is so incredibly unsexy but but the results have definitely been there — no more bloat, deeper sleep, and my skin looks clearer and calmer.

My current skin food lunch obsession has been : yakiniku steak for iron and protein, soft-boiled eggs for omega and strength, sweet potato for slow carbs and magnesium, natto for probiotics, and avocado for healthy fats.

Obsession #2 - Nerding Out with Podcasts

Ive recently been loving listening to the “Acquired” podcast. The hosts are really nerdy and funny, and I love the deep dives into massive corporations. It’s like business school but more fun.

The most recent episode I listened to was on “Costco” aka Charlie Munger’s (Warren Buffet’s partner) favourite company of all time. There is so much interesting history and the way they operate is fascinating. The Rolex episode was also really interest - would definitely recommend.

I used to avoid these type of podcasts because I preferred escaping into true crime podcasts but I’ve gotten over that.

This is what we call growth, people.

Obsession #3 - Swimming

I’ve been swimming almost every weekend now. (It's funny because I always found swimming tedious, from the showering, to the chlorine etc.) but my workaround is that I clip my hair up and keep my head above water doing breaststroke.

My TCM doctor told me to find more creative outlets to counter stress. Not sure if we can count swimming as creative but the water’s buoyancy brings me the levity and lightness I need mentally and physically. And bonus, it’s a workout without much effort and I love anything that's low effort with maximum impact.

Bonus - Claw Hacks & Blue Light Therapy

Not only do I use our BEDA claw to keep my hair away from chlorine when I swim, but I also use it to clip my hair rollers in place — a true multitasker. For those of you with bangs, you’ll thank me later. Lately, I’ve been ending my nights with blue light therapy for acne — non-invasive, reduces inflammation, and kills acne-causing bacteria.
