Hey friends and lovers,
Welcome to the first recipe of the Ramadan Skin Food Series. Today we'll be making a quick and easy smoothie that is not only filling but energising, using only dates and milk.
Did you know?
Mejdool dates are a superfood packed with antioxidants, fibre & has anti-inflammatory properties. It is also a staple ingredient in Islamic & Arabian culture.
Plus as a bonus, I'll be sharing how to make a date caramel using the exact same ingredients that you can drizzle over anything.

A Centuries Old Practice
You may have tried intermittent fasting for dieting or whatever reason but actually fasting is not a new thing in Islamic/Arabic culture. It's been practiced for centuries for its physical, mental and emotional benefits. During Ramadan we fast from sunrise to sunset, and it's a time to reset and be more intentional with how we nourish our bodies—inside and out.
Now, you will not catch me making anything complicated literally before the break of dawn, which is why this 2 ingredient recipe is perfect.

A Month of Reflection
Ramadan is also called the month of reflection for a reason because it's more than just refraining from eating or drinking. Although this month is a deeply personal journey to better ourselves, it brings such a strong sense of community, because we are all doing it together — and there’s something so special about that.
Hope the first couple of days of Ramadan wasn't too hard, but don't worry because this recipe will definitely make it easier (and sweeter).
With love,
Alia
