Taking care of sensitive, acne-prone skin isn’t just about the products you use on your face—it’s about nourishing your skin from the inside out . So many of you in the community always ask Rachel for recipes on her skin food lunches and snacks, so we are starting our Signature Skin Food Series!
There are so many factors in our life that can add up to how our skin looks and feels. Lifestyle habits such as diet, sleep pattern & mental health etc. When it comes to diet, there has been much discussion on the gut-skin axis, and whether or not you are someone who breaks out to dairy or chocolate, or maybe you're not sensitive to it at all. It wouldn't hurt to start eating nutritious foods that are anti-inflammatory. If you want to level up your eating habits, this is a good place to start because our skin recipes include a lot of whole foods, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory whole foods.
Inspired by holistic and TCM practices, our recipes range from delicious filling snacks to hearty nutritious meals that won't leave you feeling tired and overall leaving you equipped with a better understanding of ingredients that your skin loves.

Why "Skin Food"?
Taking inspiration from our Signature MATE , each ingredient was carefully selected creating a "salad" of effective, skin loving components that is our community built formula, and we apply this very approach in our skin food recipes.
What you eat may have a direct impact on your skin health. That’s why our Signature Skin Food Series focuses on the idea of intentional recipes packed with ingredients known to soothe inflammation, balance hormones, and support your skin’s healing process.
Nothing too complicated, our recipes are quick and easy that can fit into your busy lifestyle while delivering the nutrients your skin craves.
The Power of Holistic Nutrition
It's a very individualistic and personal journey to figure out what your body needs and thrives on. Sensitivity and hormonal acne are often a reflection of what’s happening inside your body: hormonal imbalances, poor digestion, and inflammation are common culprits.
By focusing on wholesome, nutrient-dense foods, our recipes help target the root causes of skin issues. Our curated skin food recipes work harmoniously to:
- Reduce Inflammation: Inflammatory foods can aggravate acne, so our recipes are rich in anti-inflammatory ingredients. For example, we try to encourage the practice of staying away from processed foods and sugars (+ dairy for some people). Instead you can get a lot more from choosing fruits, whole foods, complex carbs such as sweet potatoes or squash so that your body gets a proper source of nutrients and lessen inflammation that can translate to our breakouts.
- Balance Hormones: Hormonal imbalances are often the reason behind breakouts. It's possible and important to curate a recipe that prioritises on including essential nutrients that support the endocrine system. For example healthy fats such as those present in avocados and certain nuts can help promote hormone production. Our recipes include well-loved TCM ingredients such as ginger, red dates, beetroot and so much more with hormonal balancing as well as cycle syncing in mind.
With the combination of nutrient dense food high in vitamins, fatty acids, minerals, antioxidants and more, our recipes work on having these benefits work internally through the gut, and show externally through the skin.
Happy Gut, Happy Skin
Each recipe in our Signature Skin Food Series is built around skin-loving ingredients that offer real benefits for sensitive, acne-prone skin.
Check out our previous blog posts where we not only focus and highlight specific ingredients to look out for (like we do for our skincare ingredients too), we also provide great recipes and quick snacks, drinks and meals that are also nutritious, TCM backed aimed to heal the gut to clear the skin inside out.
